Here’s a table of the current prices the most popular bones are going for and some more information about how to go about getting them:

Bones: 83gp/each – These are the easiest bones to obtain, as they’re dropped by very low level monsters as well as high level ones and therefore you could have just gotten off Tutorial Island to begin obtaining them. The most efficient way of getting them area to find areas close to a bank. For monsters that drop normal bones, which I’d say is about 75% of all the monsters in RuneScape, I recommend killing Guards (if your combat level is high enough) near the entrances to most towns, like Varrock or Falador, as they’re just a few steps away from a bank.

Big Bones: 405gp/each – These bones, while they sell for a much higher price than regular bones, are quite a bit harder to obtain compared to normal bones. They’re dropped by large, but not necessarily tough-to-kill monsters, like Giants or Ogres. Unfortunately, there is no location to get these at this time that is close to a bank, so expect to be doing a lot of running if you want to collect these bad boys. Expect to get a lot of combat experience from the monsters that drop these, though.

Baby Dragon Bones: 930gp/each – The monsters that drop these, being even further away from any bank, are even harder to obtain. Only members can go about getting these, so if you’re a free user, you’re out of luck – you’re not missing out on much, though, to be honest. Baby Blue Dragons are a common monster to train on, as they provide decent experience as well as drop these bones.

Dragon Bones: 2185gp/each – These are the hardest, but possibly also the most worthwhile bones to obtain as far as getting cash from Prayer goes in RuneScape. Dropped only by dragons, like Green Dragons or Blue Dragons, you’ll need to be a member, have a high combat level, and be wearing an Anti-Dragon Shield shield and/or have Antifire Potions to kill these guys…and of course, they’re nowhere near a bank. However, they provide excellent experience and the cash you can get for these bones alone are amazing, not to mention the other great, rare drops you’ll get from killing them as well.

In my personal opinion, regular bones are the most worthwhile, especially if you haven’t made your first 100k yet. Once you have, you can either continue getting regular bones, although by now the monsters that drop them probably won’t be giving you much experience, or try big bones until you get a solid 500k. Once you’ve got a good combat level and the right equipment, go for baby dragon bones and dragon bones, as they sell for the most cash.

Now is the optimal time to buy Santa Hats; the prices are the lowest they’ve been in four months! If you have the cash and are willing to take a gamble (although the odds are greatly in your favor – just look at the graph), I HIGHLY recommend you buy these things now before it is too late. At the moment, they are going for around 13.5M each, so buy as many as you can and store them in your bank. Already if you look closely you can see that a curve is about to be formed. This means prices will skyrocket as soon as early May. If you have a lot of cash and are looking for a big profit, buy now and sell in a couple months when they’re more rare and worth significantly more cash than you bought them for. At this point, the longer you hold onto these kinds of rare, limited, sought-after items, the better, so if you play your cards right you’ll come out big.

In other news, raw monkfish prices blew through the roof last weekend hitting nearly 430gp each! While right now they’ve leveled off to around 400gp each, if you haven’t done the Swan Song quest, I recommend you get the skills needed to do it and begin fishing for some monkfish. They’re going for the highest prices EVER, even more than when they were first introduced! Think about it this way: if you catch 1000, which takes someone at even the minimum fishing level for the quest (62 fishing) about 60 minutes, you can get an easy 400k at the grand exchange.
